Emergency services have descended on Stockport this afternoon (Thursday) amid two police incidents.
All trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport are currently suspended amid reports of ‘trespassers’ on the line. Emergency services are at the scene of the ongoing incident between the stations.
Witnesses have said the A6 Wellington Road North, near Stockport train station, has been taped off by police. The road is currently closed, according to the Bee Network.

The M60 is also blocked in both directions after a crash near Portwood Roundabout with long delays building.
Travel service Inrix has said: “M60 in both directions blocked, long delays due to police incident between J27 A6188 Tiviot Way (Portwood Roundabout) and J1 A5145 Travis Brow (Stockport Pyramid).”

Fire service called to ‘reports of man on top of the viaduct above M60’
In a statement released this evening a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said crews were called to reports of a man on top of the viaduct above the M60 in Stockport .
A spokesperson GMFRS said:
Just before 4pm this afternoon (Thursday 1st August), two fire engines from Whitehill and Offerton fire station, along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton, were called to reports of a man on top of the viaduct above the M60 in Stockport .
Crews arrived quickly at the scene. The man removed himself from on top of the viaduct and back to safety.
Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and ten minutes.
