according to the ARNP it is heavier but from what i am gathering this fluid is similar to the bariam we drink during a barium swallow test. Never heard of it. Can't find anything out there about using it so I have turned to the boards to find out if any one has tried this. Its supposed to get your band tighter if you are one whose band is full?????

I never had any experience with it and my doctor has never mentioned it, but my mom's best friend had the surgery in Jan. She is about 56 and approx 100 over weight. She has health issues and isn't able to do alot of exercise. her doctor put something in her band he called "fix-a-flat" and the way she describes it sounds like the gastro graffin you are talking about. He gave it to her because she wasn't getting restriction and wasn't losing weight. he told her it was a last ditch effort and if it didn't work, the band wasn't going to work for her.

I'm an xray tech and we use gasrtograffin for several exams, although I've only seen it used with the band once. And that one time was when a coworkers saline started leaking out of her band and they used gastrograffin because it's thicker and won't leak. Like I said, we use it for other purposes, and I think that's why they used it.

I also am an x-ray tech and you guys must have not been at work while I was today cause I am just now reading this. LOL.
I agree, could be dual purpose, they can see it on fluoro and also as it is thicker probably doesn't leak.
Glad to see someother x-ray bandsters on here!

Hey, we're both xray techs, and had our surgery on the same day. How cool is that? You've done great so far:)
