In theaters this weekendFly Me to the Moon
Rated: PG-13 for some strong language, and smoking
Running time: 2 hours 12 minutes
Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson and Ray Romano
Plot: When the White House deems a NASA mission too important to fail, a marketing guru is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up.
Review: “Fly Me to the Moon” is best when it’s not taking itself too seriously. And the most worthwhile concept it sold is the idea of Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum (which, by the way, is a great reminder to rewatch “Hail, Caesar!”) as a modern Day and Hudson. They have the charm. They just need material that does it justice.

Longlegs
Rated: R for bloody violence, disturbing images and some language
Running time: 1 hour 41 minutes
Starring: Maika Monroe, Nicolas Cage, Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt
Plot: In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.
Review: This is Maika Monroe’s movie. Her compelling screen presence in movies like “It Follows” and “Watcher” has earned her the title of today’s preeminent “Scream Queen.” But she’s much more than a single-genre talent. Again and again in “Longlegs,” Monroe’s Harker confronts a singularly disturbing scenario and walks right in. It’s not that she isn’t nervous; her heavy breathing is part of the artful sound design by Eugenio Battaglia. Monroe, steely and strong, cuts like a knife through this almost cartoonishly severe film. Nasty stuff? Yep.
