  1. #1 Best Colleges in MinnesotaMacalester CollegeSaint Paul, MN·4 Year·Rating 3.82 out of 5 478 reviewsFreshman: I'm only a freshman, so take my opinions with that in mind, but I am immensely fortunate to have chosen to attend Mac. Students that go to this school are kind and from countless backgrounds and experiences. I have yet to perceive any air of frustration or misery on campus—even during finals season—and the upperclassmen I've spoken to have had similar experiences. The food isn't great, but I consider it adequate for the most part (although I would love to see food options that are more compatible with some of the dietary restrictions on campus). There are always numerous events to attend on campus so you have endless opportunities to learn new skills, have new experiences, and meet new people. Even if it takes some time, I can almost guarantee that you can find your "group" on campus. The academics are exceptional and I have had so many lovely interactions with professors. You really can join in on research projects in your freshman year! Just beware the cold and you'll thrive here.... 2. #3 Best Colleges in MinnesotaUniversity of Minnesota Twin CitiesMinneapolis, MN·4 Year·Rating 3.77 out of 5 4,880 reviewsSophom*ore: The best compliment I can give is that as a former international student, coming to the USA and attending the UMN was a huge risk for me, and I am so glad that I took it. At the moment, I feel very happy with my choice. The academic-focused environment that the University culminates in its halls, along with professors, staff and my fellow peers all pushing each other to do more, take initiative and show strong character, all combine to create a very fulfilling experience for me at the UMN. I love the quad area, a park for people to walk their pets and see what goes on at St. Kate. 6. #12 Best Colleges in MinnesotaConcordia CollegeMoorhead, MN·4 Year·Rating 3.67 out of 5 803 reviewsFreshman: I have enjoyed my experience at Concordia College. Nearby coffee shops and the gorgeous campus make studying much more enjoyable. Most of my issues have not been with the college itself, but have been with outside factors. Overall Concordia has done an admirable job of accommodating students who need it. The start-of-school rush does create some backup and difficulties with reaching the on-campus counseling services, but as the year progressed this became less of an issue. The disabilities office is good at what they do and works hard to ensure students' needs are met to the best of their abilities, even if that means going head-to-head with professors (an uncommon occurrence, but not unheard of). I would like for there to be better ways to contact professors in case of mental or physical illness that professors are required to honor rather than leaving it up to students to communicate and convince of a legitimate issue.... I graduate from high school this next month, and am planning to stay. I have fallen in love with the campus and community, I can be open and feel welcome for practicing my faith, and feel cared about by staff. I have not had a poor experience with any staff or professors; any issues that have occurred, they help with a smile. I love the school and am excited to continue this upcoming fall.... 9. Hamline UniversitySaint Paul, MN·4 Year·Rating 3.5 out of 5 898 reviewsSenior: Hamline University is a small liberal arts college located in Saint Paul, MN. I came to Hamline to compete on their gymnastics team. As an out-of-state student, I appreciated the welcome-week events as they helped me to meet new people and get out of my apartment when I was feeling shy. Hamline's class sizes are small and most of the professors are willing to help. Hamline has resources such as a food resource center where students and community members can get free food and meals. They also have a free store where people can donate and shop for almost anything from clothes to appliances. Something I would like to see change is the dining options. Luckily, piper grill has reopened which has been helpful to students who can't get to the dining hall during its open hours. However, the school lacks dining options since the only options are the dining hall and, Starbucks along with the Bishops Bistro....
